Curecanti National Recreation Area

I visited Curecanti at sunset and sunrise the next morning. Hiked to the Pinnacles area and enjoyed a frozen lake sunrise.

Took this shot closer to sunset and realized there was a hike up to the Pinnacles. Decided it was too late in the date and that I might try it in the morning.

Hike to the Pinnacles was very nice early in the morning - took longer than I had planned but it was peaceful and worth it. Sarah actually called me while I was hiking back to the car and we had a nice visit - almost felt like she was with me :-)

Saw this tree on the side of the road and it caught my eye

Since I started my National Park Quest there are a few animals that have eluded me....the Big Horn Sheep being one of them. Saw this on the side of the freeway and got honked at as I pulled over to take pictures.

Black Canyon of the Gunnison

After a great meeting with the folks in Grand Junction, CO I headed further South in Colorado to visit the Black Canyon. Made it to the visitors center just in time to get my National Park Passport stamped and find out they had opened the rim road a week early - timed it perfectly. The Black Canyon is hard to photography with the vast canyon and long landscapes and the deep rich black tones. I played with a variety of different filters and enjoyed the experience.
