Yellowstone Wildlife

We left the hotel at 7:30 this morning and didn't get back until 11:30 at night.  It was an exhausting day, but we got to see a lot of stuff.  I'll blog more later on everything else - right now just going to focus on the animals we saw.

On the way in we saw some Buffalo hanging out by the side of the road.

This Elk walked right up to the car, looked at me, and kept on going.

Ok......this one is the story of the day/trip so far.  First, let me explain that these pictures don't do this scene justice.  For anyone that has been to Yellowstone - we took the hike up to the Old Faithful Observation Point, then over to the Soltair Geyser, then back down to the boardwalk around the various geysers in the Old Faithful area.  Sarah spotted this bear within 30 seconds of us stepping onto the boardwalk from the hiking trail.  The bear is walking left to right, had we been 2 minutes (or less) slower, we would have literally bumped into him walking down the trail.  BTW - did I mention this is a Grizzly Bear?  We reported it to the Park Ranger and things got a little serious.  This is a heavy populated area and to see a bear here is extremely rare.  They actually closed this section of the park and wouldn't let anyone else on that trail until the emergency workers could contain the bear and figure out what he was doing there.  It was pretty crazy.

The bear turned to look right at me, I gave him the "Sic Em Bears" sign, he nodded and walked off.  Good thing I didn't do a Hook Em' Horns....he might have charged me.  Keep in mind - he was probably 20 ft or less from us and we were standing on the boardwalk.

At first we thought this was a Wolf as he walked across in front of us, but after comparing to other pictures, I'm positive this is a coyote or fox.

Sarah spotted another bear - this time we believe it was a Black Bear.

This was the largest bull Elk that we saw.
